The most common crowns have traditionally been either all metal or porcelain with metal underneath. In our office, the metal has always been pure noble gold or gold/platinum, we don't use non-precious metals as these have been known to produce many allergies and sensitivities in patients (especially women).

We offer all porcelain crowns for anterior teeth and these are beautiful and highly esthetic, but have traditionally failed in the posterior of the mouth (premolars and molars), since the forces of mastication (chewing) will break these crowns. The good news is that in the last few years, many new materials have  been discovered and proven to be just as strong as metal crowns, but are 100% tooth-colored. These crowns are extremely esthetic and basically blend-in perfectly with your natural teeth. Gone are the ugly, gray/black lines at the gumline of the crowns!
